PORTFOLIO

British Petroleum: Enterprise-Level SharePoint Development

PORTFOLIO PROJECT # 24

  • Consultant Name: Sousouni Bajis | LinkedIn
  • Project Title: Enterprise-Level SharePoint Development at British Petroleum
  • Role: SharePoint Architect and Project Manager
  • Duration: 18 months (78 weeks)

Executive Summary

At British Petroleum, I was the linchpin in SharePoint development across numerous enterprise-level projects. My role encompassed the full development life cycle β€” from gathering intricate requirements in meetings with senior stakeholders to steering the architecture and design of SharePoint-based solutions. Technologies like SharePoint, C#, ASP.NET, and SQL Server were my daily drivers, contributing to the successful execution of projects.

Project Description

In this role, my technical prowess really shone. I managed test plans meticulously and kept the codebase aligned within Team Foundation Server (TFS) in a DevOps environment. My mastery of TFS and DevOps practices were pivotal in this achievement. Furthermore, I laid down robust architectural, security, and scalability frameworks that were followed during the development phases. This level of detailed planning and implementation ensured that the projects were not just completed, but also scalable and secure for future requirements.

Task/Challenge

The challenges at BP were like a high-stakes game of 3D chess. Leading multiple SharePoint development projects simultaneously required a deep level of coordination between diverse teams. This was further complicated by the necessity to maintain rigorous security and scalability frameworks. Ensuring that the projects met BP’s stringent quality standards added an additional layer of complexity.

Solution

By streamlining the requirements gathering process and adopting an agile approach, I managed to keep all the plates spinning. Daily and weekly touchpoints with BP’s senior management, combined with a state-of-the-art DevOps environment, ensured that I was always ahead of the curve. A comprehensive Help Desk support model was also put in place, easing the project’s ongoing maintenance and ensuring its long-term success. This wasn’t just about getting the job done; it was about setting a new benchmark in quality and reliability.
