Project Description

At Northwestern University, I wore multiple hats as a Developer & Administrator. I conceptualized, designed, and deployed a robust SharePoint infrastructure, all while aligning it with Blackboard to automate course sites. My role was interdisciplinary, involving coordination with different organizational layers from faculty to staff. I led complex tasks like migrating Java code to .Net and intricately aligning Java-based SSO mechanisms with Microsoft .Net and SharePoint.

Task/Challenge

The core challenge was to build a SharePoint infrastructure that needed to mesh well with the existing Blackboard system and meet the specific needs of various university staff and faculty layers. The task also included a technical migration from Java to .Net.

Solution

I successfully designed and deployed the SharePoint infrastructure, achieving a seamless integration with Blackboard that automated course sites and simplified administrative tasks. I also successfully migrated existing Java code to .Net, aligning Java-based Single Sign-On mechanisms with Microsoft .Net and SharePoint using advanced hashing techniques. The project was delivered with thorough documentation to ensure future scalability and long-term maintenance.
