PORTFOLIO PROJECT # 17

  • Consultant Name: Sousouni Bajis | LinkedIn
  • Project Title: Transitioning Sanofi Pharma from Windows XP to Windows 7 using SharePoint
  • Role: SharePoint Designer and Business Analyst
  • Duration:2 months (8 weeks)

Executive Summary

At Sanofi Pharma, I helmed the transition of the company's systems from Windows XP to Windows 7 through a meticulously designed SharePoint application. My role spanned the entire lifecycle of the project, from initial requirements gathering in consultation with key business stakeholders, to final deployment and post-migration optimizations. The project involved intensive collaboration with internal IT staff and the project sponsor, setting the stage for SharePoint to serve as a long-term solution for the company’s key business applications.

Project Description

As the Project Lead and SharePoint Designer at Sanofi Pharma, I was at the forefront of a pivotal system migration project. Operating in a high-stakes environment with outdated systems, my task was to transition the organization to a more secure and functional Windows 7 setup using SharePoint. I led the requirements gathering phase, where I closely coordinated with critical business stakeholders to define project scope and specifications. My role also involved extensive collaboration with the in-house IT team and the project sponsor to scale and optimize the SharePoint environment for this and future business applications.

Task/Challenge

The company was saddled with the outdated and increasingly insecure Windows XP operating system, putting critical data and processes at risk. The transition to Windows 7 was not just an IT requirement but a business imperative. The challenge was to ensure a seamless migration to a more secure and functional environment without disrupting ongoing business operations. Moreover, this needed to be achieved using SharePoint as the backbone for this large-scale project.

Solution

To navigate this labyrinthine challenge, I designed and deployed a SharePoint application that became the nerve center of the migration. I coordinated intensively with key business stakeholders for requirements and teamed up with in-house IT to optimize the SharePoint setup. This multi-pronged approach ensured a smooth migration to Windows 7, while also repositioning SharePoint as a long-term solution for key business applications. By the project’s conclusion, we had not only transitioned successfully but also laid the groundwork for future projects and optimizations.
