PORTFOLIO

Target: Developing a U.S.-Canada Intranet Framework

PORTFOLIO PROJECT # 19

  • Consultant Name: Sousouni Bajis | LinkedIn
  • Project Title: Developing a U.S.-Canada Intranet Framework at Target with SharePoint 2010
  • Role: SharePoint Infrastructure Architect
  • Duration: 0 months (4 weeks)

Executive Summary

At Target, I was intimately involved in crafting a new SharePoint 2010 framework for a U.S.-Canada intranet, aimed at streamlining cross-border operations. I worked closely with business stakeholders to nail down the key elements for this SharePoint upgrade. Not just a consultant, I rolled up my sleeves to produce detailed blueprints for a new SharePoint farm environment and the business applications that would live there. My activities spanned from gathering nuanced requirements to delivering a plan of execution, demanding an eye for detail and technical prowess.

Project Description

For this project, my toolset was broad but focused. It included SharePoint 2010 for the primary development, along with SharePoint Designer and Visual Studio for more nuanced tasks. I employed these tools to architect, plan, and document the new framework. My documents acted as a 'roadmap,' guiding the implementation team in setting up the SharePoint farm environment and deploying critical business apps.

Task/Challenge

Creating a framework that had to function flawlessly for both U.S. and Canadian operations posed unique challenges. These involved ensuring system compatibility and operational synergy across varied departments and scales, making it far from a straightforward task.

Solution

To navigate these complexities, my approach was highly collaborative. I initiated and led discussions with business stakeholders to understand the distinct operational requirements of U.S. and Canadian departments. This guided the creation of the detailed application-specific blueprints, which became the cornerstone for the new SharePoint 2010 environment and associated business applications. The end result was an efficiently implemented intranet, fulfilling the unique requirements of cross-border operations.
